Baseball Camp in Cuba

To All the Faithful Supporters of Sycamore at The Stadium Baseball Camp:

Whether is was through financial sponsorship, volunteering, or prayer, YOU made baseball camps happen in Savannah during the past 11 years. You have joined us in the mission of using the game of baseball to spread the Great News of Jesus Christ. Hundreds of families have heard the Great News of Jesus Christ through the years. At least 200 children from Savannah, Hilton Head, Ridgeland, Bluffton, Rincon, Richmond Hill, St. Simons, Vidalia and Jacksonville have made first-time professions of faith. We are so grateful for the Kingdom impact upon this area where we live. I hope you know I have done my best to be faithful to the calling God has on my life.

It has always been a dream of mine to multiply the impact of the camps by doing them in different cities, states, or even countries. Honestly, I was thinking Jacksonville or Augusta. It now seems like God has a different plan. He's sending me to a communist country!

I have been invited to do baseball ministry in Cuba from May 1-9 with an organization called Global Baseball. ( www.baseballwithoutborders.com ) http://www.charismanews.com/world/32441-church-planters-target-cuba-with-baseball-ministry The purpose of the trip is to do exactly what we do at Sycamore at The Stadium with the people of Cuba. My family will be ministering with me. We'll be speaking at home churches. Ryan will be on the field with me. Terri will be doing women's ministry and dancing with children at vacation Bible school. Lexi will be helping her and documenting the ministry of Global Baseball in a suburb of Havana, Cuba. It's an opportunity to work as a family, each according to our gifts as the Body of Christ, and to realize the vision God put on my heart years ago. That vision was to use the game of baseball to tell others about Jesus and the real impact he can have on your life, not only here in Savannah but to follow Jesus anywhere he leads. It's the Great Commission to go and make disciples off all the nations. (Matt. 28:19)

Please pray for us. This is out of our "comfort zone" but we are trusting God in His leading & direction. The crazy thing is, a man named Brian Doyle will be part of this trip as well. Brian played and coached in professional baseball for years. I first met him when I was 14 at the Doyle Baseball Academy in Florida! Now, we'll be working on the field together with MY 14 year old son. God has a good sense of timing, doesn't he?
